Heyyy SuperTeachers,
In our last post, we checked in on how you're holding up during these wild and crazy times. I hope you're doing better, or at the very least, I hope you know you are seen, valued, and appreciated for all that you do.
Today, let’s talk about feedback—the kind that fuels growth. As an instructional coach, I know firsthand that providing actionable feedback is what moves the needle.
I could spend an entire coaching call ensuring teachers feel heard and supported (because that matters!), but I also know that support without accountability doesn’t drive results.
In our classrooms, results = student growth—both academic and social-emotional. Yet, many educators hesitate to give students direct, honest feedback.
I’ve heard things like:
💭 "My students already struggle enough. I don’t want to discourage them."
💭 "Pointing out their mistakes feels harsh."
I get it. But here’s the reality—passing students along year after year without clear, actionable feedback is more demoralizing than giving them the truth and support they need to grow.

Imagine realizing in high school (or beyond) that you are years behind in foundational skills (like reading comprehension and basic arithmetic), simply because no one ever gave you the information you needed to improve. We owe our students better.
That’s why we have to be warm-demanders—supportive, yet firm. Encouraging, yet uncompromising when it comes to student growth. That means reviewing student work constantly and sharing feedback regularly—not just when grades are due, but in real time.
Here's a download I want you to check out.
In the next post, we’ll break down the difference between feedback that transforms learning and feedback that falls flat.
Not all feedback is created equal.
What challenges do you face when giving students feedback? How do your students respond to your feedback? Let's start a conversation in the comments
